This article explains how to check computer specs, including finding the specifications of a Windows 10 PC and a Mac.
How Do I Check My PC Specs in Windows 10?
On a Windows 10 PC, most of the specs are in one place. Specifications like your CPU, RAM, and OS version are all found in the About section of the System Settings menu. This section doesn’t tell you how much storage space you have or what type of video card you have, so you need to look elsewhere for those specifications.
Here’s how to check the specs on a Windows 10 PC:
Select Start on your taskbar.
Click the gear icon.
Click System.
Click About.
Most of your specs are listed on this screen, including processor, RAM, and your version and build number of Windows.
Now click Storage in the left panel.
Click View storage on other drives.
On this screen, you’ll see how much total storage space your PC has and how much free space is left.
Now type System Information into the taskbar search field, and hit enter.
This screen provides some detailed system specs, but it doesn't show your video card. To find that, click the + next to Components.
Click Display.
This screen shows your display specifications. Look for Adapter Description to see what video card you have.

How to Check Windows 10 Specs With Task Manager
Most of your basic specs, including information on the current status of system resources, are also located in the Performance tab of the Task Manager.
To find your specs in Task Manager:
Type Task Manager into the taskbar search field, and press enter.
Click the Performance tab.
Click CPU to see what processor you have.
Click Memory to see information about your RAM.
Click Disk to see information about your storage.
Your computer may have more than one disk.
Click GPU to see information about your video card.
Your computer may show two GPU listings if it has integrated graphics in addition to a discrete video card.

How Do I Check My Specs on a Mac?
There are far fewer Macs than Windows PC models, so you can typically find out the specs of a Mac just by looking up the model number on the Apple website. If you suspect you or someone else has modified your Mac at some point, or you want to see the specs of your specific machine, you can check the specs in macOS.
Here’s how to check your specs in macOS:
Click the Apple menu.
Click About This Mac.
On the overview screen, you will find information on your processor and RAM. For additional information, click System Report.
Click Hardware to view your Mac model name and identifier, processor, RAM, firmware version, serial number, and hardware ID.
Click memory to see more information about your RAM.
Click Graphics/Displays for more information about your video card and connected displays.
Click Storage for more information about installed and available storage.
