Make this easy coleslaw recipe even easier by using store-bought coleslaw mix!
KitchenAid KFP0922CU 9-Cup Food Processor with Exact Slice System – Contour SilverYes, I said it. You can make this even easier by using 2 bags of store-bought coleslaw mix. It makes this a super simple coleslaw recipe.
I don’t mind shredded up some cabbage and carrots thanks to my food processor doing most of the work, but if you’re making coleslaw for a large crowd the store-bought is just as good and a huge time saver!
I opt for making it myself most of the time as we can’t find an organic coleslaw mix.
The food processor we use makes it even easier with the exact slice system. It makes even slices every time and I love it for making slices for salads as well. 🙂
After cutting my fingertip off with a mandoline (didn’t use a guard, thankfully learned my lesson!) I can never be without my food processor.
how to make coleslaw salad:
This easy coleslaw will take you less than 10 minutes to make! You really only need a few simple ingredients and how you prepare it depends on your preference and the time you want to take to make it. You could simply pick up a bag of coleslaw mix and coleslaw dressing from the store and mix the two together. Another option is shredding everything on your own and making homemade coleslaw dressing.
Sometimes we like to go with a mix of the two and make a homemade coleslaw dressing and dump over the coleslaw mix. This results in asimple coleslaw recipe, but we’re still making the dressing to our liking, we just don’t have to shred all the veggies and wash more than one dish in the process.

how to make coleslaw dressing:
Our coleslaw dressing recipe is delicious and paired with coleslaw mix this easy coleslaw recipe is a keeper for potlucks! You can add more mayo if you like a creamy coleslaw recipe, we like more of a tangy vinegar coleslaw recipe. It’s seriously so simple and you’ll be so glad you started making it from home! There’s no need to buy the jars in the store, especially if you already have all the ingredients at home. You could easily just use our recipe with the store bought bag mix of coleslaw too.
All you need is:
- Mayonnaise
- White Vinegar (I prefer apple cider vinegar, but my husband won’t touch anything with it)
- Mustard
- Sugar
- Salt
It’s that simple to make homemade coleslaw! You have to have those ingredients, right? If you want to thin it out and use less mayo you can also use sour cream, buttermilk, or even yogurt for a healthy coleslaw recipe.

I usually just buy the bags of already shredded cabbage. I don’t own a food processor like this but I own tons of other kitchen gadgets. I love your recipe. My mom takes a bowl and mixes the sugar, mayonnaise and vinegar until it tastes right. It’s nice to see a recipe with some base measurements.

Coleslaw it´s not only easy but healthy, if you cut in the amount of mayo. I love it with french dressing or just lime juice and a few drops of olive oil.

How do you cut cabbage for diced southern style slaw. The coleslaw dressing taste phenomenal!
Reply
Courtney Lopez
Hi, Grances!
For diced I would basically cut the cabbage like I would chop and onion.

This is the absolute most perfect coleslaw. I like the tangy of the apple cider vinegar. I’ve tried so hard to find a good one and never seem to nail it. This is awesome!

The video shows lemon juice in the ingredients but it is not in the written recipe.

I occasionally make it with lemon juice as I like it tarter, but my family actually prefers it on the sweet side so we omitted it in the recipe after making it again for my family to compare. I always add to mine 🙂
