GMR-operated Delhi International Airport has become the first airport in India to launch the Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP). The government-initiated programme has been introduced for Indian passport holders and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders. The Ministry of Home Affairs collaborated with the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Bureau of Immigration for the FTI-TTP.

The FTI-TTP is designed to provide Indian nationals and OCI cardholders with a faster, easier, and more secure travel experience. The FTI-TTP is similar to the Global Entry Program offered by the United States. It allows pre-approved and low-risk travellers to benefit from expedited immigration and security clearance upon arrival.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah introduced the ‘Fast Track Immigration Trusted Traveller Programme’ (FTI-TTP) at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi on June 22. The initiative will speed up, simplify and secure travel for Indian citizens and OCI cardholders.

This step is likely to help in reducing congestion at airports by offering expedited emigration and immigration clearance for pre-verified travellers. In order to enroll in this program, the applicant's passport should have at least six months of validity. In a statement Delhi Airport said, "Membership in the programme will be co-terminus with passport validity. The application process requires applicants to submit their biometrics along with other required information as specified in the application form. Registration under FTI-TTP will be completed after necessary verifications and confirmation of eligibility."

What is FTI-TTP?

The FTI-TTP, an initiative by the Central government, is designed for Indian nationals and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) cardholders. This card allows foreign nationals or foreign citizens of Indian origin lifelong seemless travel to India for various purposes, except political rights and land ownership.

The FTI-TTP aims to modernise and streamline the travel experience, focusing on speed, simplicity and improved security. The programme requires online applications, biometric verification and a processing fee. Biometric appointments are mandatory.

Applicants need to apply online and submit their biometric data (fingerprint and facial image) along with the required information specified in the application form.

How to register with FTI-TTP

Eligible travellers can click here to apply through the government website.

  • After verification, the approved passenger will receive an email or SMS to proceed to the next step – biometric enrolment at either the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) or a dedicated counter at Delhi Airport, to enrol their biometric details such as fingerprints and facial image.

  • The registration process for FTI-TTP may take up to one month.

How to avail the facility at the airport

  • At the time of departure, a registered passenger must visit the check-in counter to obtain the boarding pass after Visa verification.

  • After receiving the boarding pass, the passenger will proceed to the dedicated TTP e-gates installed at the Immigration area.

  • The passenger will scan their passport and boarding pass at the first e-gate. If both are verified, the first e-gate will allow passage to the next e-gate.

  • At the next e-gate, the passenger’s face will be scanned. If verified, the passenger’s emigration process is completed.

  • Videh Kumar Jaipuriar, CEO of Delhi Airport said, "This programme will offer a world-class and seamless travel experience to all international passengers opting for this facility. This technology-driven initiative is designed to make the emigration/immigration clearance process faster and simpler."

FTI-TTP fee structure

  • The fee for the programme is Rs 2,000 for adult Indian nationals, Rs 1,000 for minor Indian nationals, and $100 for OCI cardholders.

  • The US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has a similar program for low-risk travellers that speeds up their clearance process.
